It always had a slightly "soft" sound to me - my attempts to lessen this tended to result in more noticeable distortion than using the Pro-L.

What kinds of settings are people using as a starting point on the newest Elephant algorithm? I think it sounds very good but I still preferred the Pro-L in nearly all the tests I performed when the latest version came out.

This also applies if you are applying different amounts of limiting/clipping using 2-3 processors instead of doing it all at once (a practice that has it's uses but I personally think is overrated certainly on Internet forums). Of course we always strive for a transparent solution, but you are never, ever going to do 5db of limiting, or whatever setting is required to get an insane level of commercial volume, without damaging the audio in some way that is noticeable in a decent listening environment. If transparency is of the utmost concern the best option is not to limit at all, or at least to limit less. Removing the transients is always, 100% going to change the audio you can't have your cake and eat it. I don't understand the attitude of thinking there must be a set and forget limiter that both makes things louder and doesn't change the audio.
